Swiss Geo Energy (SGE) has successfully completed a 2D geophysical survey campaign as part of the GeoCogen La Broye geothermal project. Conducted between 20 and 24 July, the campaign marks another important milestone in the preparation of one of Europe's largest onshore geothermal exploration programmes.[

The field operations were carried out overnight by GTGI, SGE's geophysical acquisition contractor, along a 10-kilometre survey line crossing the municipalities of Delley-Portalban, Saint-Aubin and Belmont-Broye. Working during the night ensured optimal acquisition conditions while minimising disruption to traffic and nearby residents.

This survey was primarily designed to test and validate different acquisition parameters, helping the project team identify the most suitable configuration for the large-scale 3D geophysical acquisition, scheduled for early 2027. These field tests will help optimise the acquisition methodology and ensure the highest possible data quality for the next phase of the project.

Throughout the campaign, SGE maintained a continuous presence on site, working closely with GTGI to coordinate operations, monitor progress and ensure the smooth execution of field activities.

With the successful completion of this campaign, the project now enters its next preparation phase. Over the coming months, technical studies, permitting activities and operational planning will continue ahead of the 3D geophysical acquisition, scheduled to begin in early 2027.

Covering approximately 500 km² across the cantons of Vaud, Fribourg and Bern, the upcoming 3D geophysical acquisition campaign will be one of the largest onshore geothermal exploration programmes of its kind ever undertaken in Europe and represents the next major milestone in the GeoCogen La Broye project.

SGE will continue to keep local authorities, residents and project stakeholders informed as preparations progress.
